§ 11-11-101. Parades.

  • (a) Definition. In this title, "parade" means a public procession of persons, vehicles, or floats or a combination of persons, vehicles, or floats.
    (b) License required. A parade may not be held without a parade license issued by the Department.
    (c) Application. Application for a license shall be made not less than 30 days before the parade date and promptly forwarded to the Police Department.
    (d) Fee. The fee for a parade license is $25.
    (e) Issuance. The requirement for the license shall not infringe on the freedom of the right to assemble. The license shall be issued except in instances in which the Chief of Police or the designee of the Chief of Police determines that the safety and convenience of the public in the use of the streets or sidewalks will be unduly disturbed. A parade license shall be issued by the Department in instances where the application has been made less than 30 days prior to the parade date if the Chief of Police or the designee of the Chief of Police approves the application and advises the Department in writing that the safety and convenience of the public in the use of the streets or sidewalks will not be unduly disturbed.
